Now that the Oct Portfolios have been submitted, we can breathe for a minute and look at the past 6 week
1. what aspect(s) of writing your essay has been most successful? what do you mean? Having the tables and notes about the readings was one thing that really help me with my paper. I end up with a lot of material that I could work with. All of my ideas came up to me because of the table that I did and because of the notes that I took from all the readings in class when you were explaining it.
2. what aspect(s) of your work has most surprised you? what do you mean? The way in which I support my views and the way in which I understood the reading was very surprised to me because the readings were not that easy to understood but I felt very comfortable with the readings in general.
3. What aspects of reading,writing, critical thinking have been the least successful? what do you mean? I believe that using quotes and putting them in the right paragraph was one of the things that was more difficult to do because sometimes it was easier to use other authors that support my thesis than those that regret it.
4.what will you do the same in the second half of the course? why? I will analyzed deeply the readings in the same way that I did with the october portfolio because that really help me with the paper in which I use a lot of details and good ideas from the readings and I feel comfortable writing about it because I knew what all the readings were trying to emphasizes.
5. what will you do differently? why? One thing I would do different is to work earlier on my paper in order to have a better finish paper at the end. Another thing that I would do different is to try to organized better my paper because sometimes that blocked me from writing things that could go there but because of the paper organization I decided no to included.
6.what do you want me to do the same? why? I will like you to keep expleaning us the reading in the same way that you did with the october porfolio because by doing this we learn from each other and we learn a lot from the readings.
7. what do you want me to do differently? why? One thing I will like you to do different is to work more individually with us, being in groups was helpful too and is important but I think that if we talk to you more often you can help us more because not all of us are in the same path.
8. Has the first half of this course impacted your confidence as a reader/writer? what do you mean? Yes it has I feel more comfortable now when reading papers, i understand better the material by creating tables and by analyzing the readings with the highlighters and by defining key terms that they use in the readings. This are simple things that helps a lot at the end of the day.
9.has the first half impacted your understanding of the WPR and its requirements? Yes because now I know more what they want and what they are looking for in which the most important thing is not summarizing the author but putting the main debates and supporting our thesis and using our own critical thinking more rather than using long quotes.
10. what else do you want me to know? I will like to work with you individually more often and I will also like more examples of how we can organized better our paper because it is very difficult doing that when we are writing our own papers and putting our own ideas and then organizing it.
